The old iZEV program closed on March 31, 2025. The replacement, the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), covers new EVs bought or leased (12 months or more) from February 16, 2026 to March 31, 2031, or until the funding runs out.

YearBattery-electricPlug-in hybrid
2026up to $5,000up to $2,500
2027$4,000$2,000
2028–2029$3,000$1,500
2030–2031$2,000$1,000

The amount depends on when the dealer submits the request, not when you bought the car. Vehicles must be made in Canada or in a country with a free-trade agreement with Canada.

Caveat: EVAP only applies when the final transaction value is $50,000 or less (no cap for Canadian-made EVs). Whether a Model Y Standard qualifies depends on its final price with options, fees and taxes as Transport Canada defines it. Check the official EVAP vehicle list and confirm with Tesla before you count on it. This page is not financial advice.

This site is Canada-first. United States: the federal clean vehicle tax credit ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. UK and Europe: incentives differ by country and change often, so check your national government programme.
