Open the Tesla Design Studio for Canada, pick the Model Y Standard RWD and enter your postal code. That window is Tesla's current estimate. After you order, the Tesla app shows your own estimated delivery date (EDD).
In summer 2026, Drive Tesla Canada reported the Design Studio showing December 2026 to January 2027 for the Model Y RWD. That was a snapshot; check the current figure yourself.
Why the date keeps changing
The estimated delivery date in the Tesla app moves a lot until a VIN is assigned. Many Canadian owners report it shifting weeks earlier or later, sometimes more than once a week.
- Shipping from Germany: Canadian Model Ys have been coming from Giga Berlin, so ships and rail add steps and timing risk (reported by Drive Tesla Canada).
- Allocation: Tesla assigns cars by market and configuration. Popular colours can move differently.
- Cancellations and inventory: a matching car freed up elsewhere can pull your date forward suddenly.
What a VIN means
Once Tesla matches a specific car to your order, a VIN appears in the app. Owners on r/teslacanada say the date gets much more reliable after that, and Tesla usually contacts you to schedule pickup. It still isn't a promise if the car is in transit.
What to do while you wait
- Line up financing or your down payment, and read financing vs leasing.
- Get insurance quotes early: insurance in Ontario.
- Plan home charging. An electrician quote can take weeks: home charging in Ontario.
- Check the EVAP rebate rules for your purchase.
- Print the delivery day checklist and read the inspection guide.
- Order winter tires if you take delivery between November and March: winter tires.
