Precondition while plugged in

Use Scheduled Departure / preconditioning so the cabin and battery warm up from the grid, not the battery. See "Scheduled Precondition and Charge" and "Cold Weather Best Practices" in the owner's manual.

Keep it plugged in

Plugging in overnight lets the car keep the battery warm and top up. On the Ultra-Low Overnight plan, schedule for 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Use seat and wheel heat

Heating the cabin is a major cause of winter range loss (Recurrent). Heated seats warm you directly and can let you lower the cabin temperature.

Precondition before fast charging

Navigating to a Supercharger lets the car warm the battery so it charges faster.

Winter tires

Ontario insurers must offer a discount for winter tires. Check your tire size for the Standard trim on the door-jamb label.

Ice and handles

Preconditioning helps free iced doors, mirrors and the charge port. Clear snow off the roof and sensors before driving.
