Tesla Model Y Standard quirks and features you should know
A quick POV walkaround of my 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard and the quirks and features you only notice once you own one: the bare frunk, no rear screen, no centre console, the half-fabric seats, the hands-free trunk with your phone key, and the glass roof that's covered up. Some are cost cuts, some are actually nice. Here's my honest take.

What's in the video
- Frunk: smaller than the original Model Y's, with no cladding, so you see the wiring. Keeping water and dirt out: frunk water seal guide.
- No rear screen: the Standard drops the rear console touchscreen. Kids in the back will be on iPads. What else differs: Standard vs Premium comfort.
- Storage: the trunk opens up once you use the sub-trunk and side cubbies. My cubby covers are in my accessories ranking.
- Sentry Mode and Dashcam: clips save to the USB drive in the glove box. Setup: Sentry Mode and Dashcam setup.
- No centre console: open floor between the seats, like the original Model S. Storage options: Model Y Standard console storage.
- Seats: half fabric, half vegan leather, and easy to clean.
- Hands-free trunk: stand behind the car with your phone key and the trunk opens on its own. No foot kick needed. More like this: 25 hidden Model Y features.
- Glass roof: it's there, but covered with a headliner for insulation.
