Model Y Standard vs Model 3 RWD.
I bought a 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard RWD in Richmond Hill. Here's how it stacks up on paper against the Model 3 RWD for Canadian buyers, in CAD, using published Canadian figures.
| Tesla Model Y Standard RWD | Model 3 RWD | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP (CAD) | $49,990 | $39,490 |
| Rated range | 463 km | 463 km |
| 0–100 km/h | 7.2 s | Unconfirmed |
| Peak DC charging | About 175 kW | Unconfirmed |
Prices are starting MSRPs before freight/PDI and HST, checked October 13, 2026. Trims and prices change often; confirm with Tesla and the dealer. Figures marked Unconfirmed differ between sources.
What actually matters in Canada
Both are Teslas, so charging is identical. The biggest practical difference for GTA road trips is charging. My Model Y plugs straight into Tesla's Supercharger network, with live availability and pricing in the car. Other brands can now use many Superchargers too, but often need an adapter and Tesla app access, and availability varies by site.
The Model 3 RWD is about $10,500 cheaper at list price with the same 463 km rated range in the published figures. You give up the Model Y's hatchback, the taller seating position and a lot of cargo room.
Which one would I buy?
If you don't need SUV space, the Model 3 RWD is the better value on paper. If you haul stuff, have kids or like sitting higher in winter traffic, the Model Y Standard makes more sense.
See the Model Y Standard specs, run your costs in the Tesla vs gas cost calculator, and check what rebates still apply.I film all of this on my own 2026 Model Y Standard. Watch on The Electric Standard on YouTube.
