Model Y Standard vs Kia EV6.
I bought a 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard RWD in Richmond Hill. Here's how it stacks up on paper against the Kia EV6 for Canadian buyers, in CAD, using published Canadian figures.
| Tesla Model Y Standard RWD | Kia EV6 | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP (CAD) | $49,990 | Sources differ: $48,995 (Light RWD) to about $55,995 (Long Range RWD) Unconfirmed |
| Rated range | 463 km | 373 km (SR AWD) to 499 km (LR RWD) |
| 0–100 km/h | 7.2 s | Unconfirmed |
| Peak DC charging | About 175 kW | Unconfirmed |
Prices are starting MSRPs before freight/PDI and HST, checked October 13, 2026. Trims and prices change often; confirm with Tesla and the dealer. Figures marked Unconfirmed differ between sources.
What actually matters in Canada
The biggest practical difference for GTA road trips is charging. My Model Y plugs straight into Tesla's Supercharger network, with live availability and pricing in the car. Other brands can now use many Superchargers too, but often need an adapter and Tesla app access, and availability varies by site.
The EV6 is lower and sportier than the Model Y, more of a crossover than an SUV, with 800-volt charging. Its long-range trims beat my car's 463 km on paper.
Which one would I buy?
If you want a sportier drive and a dealer network, test-drive the EV6. If you want maximum interior space for the money and Supercharging, it's the Model Y Standard.
See the Model Y Standard specs, run your costs in the Tesla vs gas cost calculator, and check what rebates still apply.I film all of this on my own 2026 Model Y Standard. Watch on The Electric Standard on YouTube.
