Model Y Standard vs Chevrolet Equinox EV.

I bought a 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard RWD in Richmond Hill. Here's how it stacks up on paper against the Chevrolet Equinox EV for Canadian buyers, in CAD, using published Canadian figures.

What actually matters in Canada

The biggest practical difference for GTA road trips is charging. My Model Y plugs straight into Tesla's Supercharger network, with live availability and pricing in the car. Other brands can now use many Superchargers too, but often need an adapter and Tesla app access, and availability varies by site.

The Equinox EV has the longest rated range in this group, up to 513 km, and its price is in the same territory as the Model Y Standard, but published Canadian prices disagree, so get a dealer quote. Check the federal EVAP eligible list for whichever trim you're considering.

Which one would I buy?

If range per dollar is all that matters, the Equinox EV is hard to beat. If you want Tesla's software and native Supercharger access, the Model Y Standard is the one to drive.

See the Model Y Standard specs, run your costs in the Tesla vs gas cost calculator, and check what rebates still apply.

I film all of this on my own 2026 Model Y Standard. Watch on The Electric Standard on YouTube.
